TITLE: New Bodies, New Names METER: Transfiguration 6.7.5.7.7.7 LITURGICAL SETTING: Transfiguration Sunday SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Revelation 2:17, 1 Corinthians 13:12, Genesis 32:22-31, Mark 9:2-13
1. New bodies and new names—
heav’n and earth won’t be the same.
Writ on a bright stone—
Jesus calls us for his own.
Though we see but dimly now,
face-to-face—someday, somehow.
2. Jacob called Israel—
striv’n with God and men, prevailed.
Hip out of joint thrown—
blesséd as the sun arose.
Though we see but dimly now,
face-to-face—someday, somehow.
3. Changed face, dazzling clothes—
Jeus on the mountain shone.
Words from the cloud come:
“This is my belovéd son.”
Though we see but dimly now,
face-to-face—someday, somehow.
