1. On the road to Jerusalem,
Jericho behind–
beggar sitting in the gutter,
hears him loudly cries.
2. Sternly ordered to be quiet–
calls out all the more:
“Son of David! mercy on me!”
Jesus calls him t’ward.
3. Last to come in the procession,
follows on the road.
Sight restored could not have shown him
what’s already known.
4. You would become the master
must be servants all,
even stopping on the roadside–
to make others well.
