1. O God, who like a mother,
did suckle Israel,
do not forget your children.
Be ever faithful still.
2. We wander in the desert;
we hunger for your food.
Carried within your bosom,
Lord, do your servants good.
3. Your wisdom raises its voice–
it calls out from the gate–
to vindicate her children
from oppression and hate.
4. We turn away your prophets;
we spurn your correction.
Yet you desire to ever
gather us in your wings.
5. O God, who like a mother,
did suckle Israel,
